Attachments is a novel about a man who works as an internet security officer for The Courier. He works night shifts monitoring employees’ emails, and during this time, he becomes emotionally drawn to a woman whose emails he reads—eventually falling in love with her, even though he has never seen her face.
For the redesign, I wanted to express the intimacy and tension of sharing private emails. I created two office desks and chairs, positioning the man’s desk upside down and placing a computer in between, symbolizing how he secretly reads her emails and gradually falls for her.
To emphasize the central role of email in the story, I also designed a custom email interface for the back cover.
